Nutrient metabolism in sunflower leaves infected with Alternaria helianthi

Nutrient assimilation and metabolism were examined in both healthy and A. helianthi infected sunflower leaves. The total nitrogen and accumulation of ammonia increased in the A. infected leaves. The accumulation of nitrate following infection was, however, non-significant. While the total phosphorus increased in infected leaves, the available phosphorus content was reduced.
