Nutrition of swamp buffaloes

Nutrition of swamp buffaloes

World animal science C, production system approach 6: Buffalo production: 135-149

The available information relating to the nutrition of swamp buffaloes is reviewed, including references to the nutrition of Murrah buffaloes, the information on which is much more readily available. The major conclusion from the review is that there is a paucity of information on many aspects of feeding and nutrition of swamp buffaloes. The capacity for DM intake, in terms of consuming roughage with and without concentrates, is comparable to other ruminants.
