Nutritional study in relation to cardiovascular diseases: pilot study in the Brianza area

Diet was studied from data on food intake during 3 days and by interview as part of a cardiovascular disease monitoring programme in a random sample of 200 healthy men and women 50 to 54 years old, in the Brianza area of Lombardy, Italy during 1985. Mean daily energy intake in men and women was 2571+or-472 and 2168+or-509 kcal. Intake was above recommended values for Italy (LARN) in 16.3% of men and 47.1% of women.
