Mean yield of 6 groundnut cultivars grown at Sonitpur in spring 1989 decreased from 1.91 t pods/ha when sown on 5 Jan. to 1.30 t when sown on 15 Mar., while crops grown in the late rainy season with a 9 Aug. sowing date gave a mean pod yield of 0.98 t/ha. The number of days to 50% flowering and harvesting decreased as the sowing date was delayed after 5 Jan. Mean cultivar yields ranged from 1.32 t/ha in ICGS44 to 1.63 t in ICGS-I.
