Pest and disease decision support for Hawkes Bay apple growers - a survey

An interview survey was conducted among 50 randomly-selected apple growers in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, during June-September 1992 to determine pest and disease problems, use of existing integrated pest management methodology, and requirements for an improved decision-support service. More than 20% of growers had problems with Venturia inaequalis, Phytophthora cactorum, Pseudococcus spp., Panonychus ulmi and Erwinia amylovora. Many growers used integrated pest management techniques.
