Low fruit set in durian, particularly Chanee, is a major problem in Thailand production. Pollen tubes of several cultivars were examined for viability, germination and tube length one day before and 2 days after anthesis. Pollen grains were rounded and sticky and release in clumps, indicating that there is little transfer by wind. The stigma was receptive before and at anthesis but less so one day after.
