Polyunsaturated fatty acids in marine fish consumed in Italy

The fatty acid composition of neutral lipids, estimated by capillary gas chromatography, of 10 marine fishes, Engraulis encrasicolus, Dicentrarchus labrax, Merluccius merluccius, Sparus aurata, Sardina pilchardus, Scomber scomber, Solea vulgaris, Mustelus mustelus, Squalus acanthias and Acipenser sturio, from Italian waters is presented. Of the saturated acids palmitic acid and oleic acid (except in S. pilchardus) predominated in all species.
