Postpartum oestrus in relation to plasma levels of copper and zinc in crossbred cows

Postpartum oestrus in relation to plasma levels of copper and zinc in crossbred cows

Indian Journal of Animal Reproduction 14(2): 82-84

For 33 cows in their 1st or 2nd lactation, with an interval between parturition and subsequent oestrus of < 60 days, the blood concentrations of copper were 136.66 and 121.19 mu g/dl respectively vs. 81.94 and 107.61 for 39 cows with an interval of > 60 days, and the concentrations of zinc were 203.75 and 187.28 mu g/dl vs. 115.55 and 110.14, the differences between oestrous and non-oestrous cows being significant in both lactations (P<0.01).
