On the basis of 29 trials with Bergamasca and Sardinian wethers prediction equations were formulated for digestibility of DM, organic matter and energy and voluntary intake of DM of forages used locally in Italy including permanent meadow grass herbage and hay, foxtail millet (Setaria italica), tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea), maize forage, brome grass (Bromus catharticus), industrial pea hay and soyabean, wheat and spring pea straws treated or not with sodium hydroxide.
