Preliminary report on the traits of durum wheat germplasm resources

Crop Genetic Resources ( 3): 13-14

The results are presented of a study of 1278 varieties during 1989-90, and the use of some of these varieties in hybridization work is outlined. Most varieties were in the height range 71-100 cm, with 50 shorter than 60 cm and 106 taller than 100 cm. CD84293-5-9-21 was 35 cm tall. Some other short varieties had good grain quality, e.g. Ying 4195 (75 cm), CD85147-10 (74 cm) and PCDUR198 (65 cm). The 1000-grain weight of 237 accessions was >50 g.
