Price and non-price factors in input use and output supply - a case of gram in Uttar Pradesh

Price and non-price factors in input use and output supply - a case of gram in Uttar Pradesh

Indian Economic Review 28(1): 73-83

The paper compares the responses of chickpea growers in the gangetic plains of Uttar Pradesh state, India, to input and output prices on the one hand, and to fixed factors influencing production (irrigation and rainfall), on the other, in a translog profit function framework. The data used in the study were taken from cost of cultivation surveys and are based on a sample of 202 farms in 20 districts for the reference year 1985/86.
