Production of a grasshopper entomopoxvirus (Entomopoxvirinae) in Melanoplus sanguinipes (F.) (Orthoptera: Acrididae)

Production of a grasshopper entomopoxvirus (Entomopoxvirinae) in Melanoplus sanguinipes (F.) (Orthoptera: Acrididae)

Canadian Entomologist 125(6): 1131-1133

Methods of inoculation for the mass production of the acridid Melanoplus sanguinipes entomopoxvirus in M. sanguinipes were investigated. The group fed bran treated with 5 x 108 spheroids produced the highest total spheroid number (7.7 x107/insect based on a starting number of 100 M. sanguinipes/treatment in each of 5 replicates).
