Norwegian Dairies, with about 120 individual dairies attached to 18 companies and 28 000 raw material suppliers, has a sophisticated system of production planning, stock control and product despatch for dairies, and of incoming goods' checking and stock control for central warehouses. Batch traceability and pallet identification are crucial. Key elements include standardized labelling, bar code marking and electronic data interchange.
