Production potential and energy-use efficiency of rice (Oryza sativa)-based cropping systems

Field trials were carried out in 1986-88 at Madurai, Tamil Nadu, with the cropping systems rice/rice/fallow, rice/rice/green gram sorghum + cowpeas/rice/soyabeans, maize + soyabeans/rice/cowpeas and groundnuts + black gram rice/sesame. N, P and K were applied as the soil-test values (F1) or as F1 but without P or K application to rice (F2).
