Profile of toxoplasmosis in two different localities in Dakahlia Governorate


, : Profile of toxoplasmosis in two different localities in Dakahlia Governorate. Journal of the Egyptian Society of Parasitology 23(2): 423-430

The prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection in two different localities in Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt, in relation to age, sex, occupation, and contact with animals or birds was estimated. 71 of 298 (23.8%) of sera examined using Dot-ELISA were positive for T gondii antibodies. The seropositivity rate was highest among the inhabitants of a village, and particularly in those in contact with farm animals. The significance of the findings is discussed.
