As with other lenders serving US agriculture, life insurance company response to the 1980s' farm financial crisis was varied. Some companies terminated farm mortgage lending altogether, while others consolidated their farm loan portfolios. Regardless of the response, the farm lending practices and policies of all life insurance companies have been shaped by the decade's events.
