25 Dutch Yorkshire X British Large White, 29 Italian Large White X Italian Landrace and 24, 31 and 30 hybrids designated X, Y and Z resp. were slaughtered at 150-160 kg live weight. Lean percentage of the carcass, estimated using the Fat-O-Meater instrument, averaged 41.89, 41.25, 48.59, 47.75 and 47.02 resp., meat colour reflectance value 37.12, 31.07, 36.97, 32.45 and 33.07, and meat pH 6.74, 6.30, 6.59, 6.34 and 6.44 at 45 min after slaughter and 5.68, 5.67, 5.75, 5.68 and 5.65 after 24 h.
