Regulation of adipocyte development

, : Regulation of adipocyte development. Annual Review of Nutrition 14: 99-129

In this review the authors consolidate and interpret pertinent literature on adipocyte-forming cell lines, the adipocyte development program, and modulators (both external and genetic) that act at different stages of development.

Aims/hypothesis: Autotaxin is a lysophospholipase D that is secreted by adipocytes and whose expression is substantially up-regulated in obese, diabetic db/db mice. The aim of the present study was to depict the physiopathological and cellular mec...

Abundance of duck adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP) mRNA was detected in this study by quantitative real-time PCR. The results showed that duck A-FABP gene was expressed in muscular tissues and many organs, except pancreas, lung, and k...

A large body of clinical data, supported by genetic and pharmacological evidence, has demonstrated potent insulin-sensitizing effects of the adipocyte-derived secretory factor adiponectin. The role of the endoplasmic reticulum stress-regulated kinase, PERK, in mammary gland function was assessed through generation of a targeted deletion in mammary epithelium. In the present manuscript, the methods required to generate purified cultures of mature adipocytes, as well as stromal vascular cells, from the same isolation are detailed. Few cell adhesion molecules have been reported to be expressed in mature adipocytes, and the significance of cell adhesion process in adipocyte biology is also unknown. In the present study, we identified ACAM (adipocyte adhesion molecule), a nove...
