Regulation of in vitro progesterone release from caprine luteal tissues by prostaglandins E2 and F2 alpha

, : Regulation of in vitro progesterone release from caprine luteal tissues by prostaglandins E2 and F2 alpha. Theriogenology 38(1): 63-71

Ten goats were synchronized in oestrus with PGF2 alpha , and were superovulated with LH + LHRH. Ten days after oestrus, the ovaries were removed, and corpus luteum slices (2 mm in thickness) were incubated with PGE2 or PGF2 alpha at 1 or 10 ng/ml for 30-360 min; slices incubated without PG served as controls. Control luteal slices produced progesterone over the entire incubation period. PGE2 at both concentrations progressively increased progesterone production by corpus luteum slices.
