Regulation of the expression of the mitochondrial 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase gene

, : Regulation of the expression of the mitochondrial 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase gene. Biochemical Journal London 283(1): 261-264

In vivo regulation of the gene was studied in rats fed ad libitum on a stock diet or a lipid-rich (43%) diet, some of which were given streptozotocin to induce diabetes. RNA for the enzymes was assayed by densitometry of liver tissue. Some of the rats were starved for 24 or 48 h prior to the start of the experiment, and insulin treatment (diabetic rats), cAMP treatment (fed rats) and dexamethasone treatment of non-diabetic fed and starved rats were carried out.
