The results are presented of a study of H+-ATPase in submitochondrial particles (MF0F1) and soluble H+-ATPase in mitochondria (MF1) in the roots of seedlings from lines with the nucleus of Triticum aestivum and the cytoplasm of Aegilops comosa, A. ventricosa and A. cylindrica and their parents. When Mg in the substrate was replaced by other bivalent cations, H+-ATPase activity in MF1 fell in the following decreasing order: Zn >= Mg > Ca > Mn > Co.
