Relationship between degradation of ribulose-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase and synthesis of an abundant protein of 23kDa of barley leaves (Hordeum vulgare cv. Salome) induced by jasmonates

Barley leaf segments responded to treatment with jasmonate with the degradation of ribulose-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco) down to <5% of untreated leaves after a 3-d incubation period. Concomitantly, the 23 kDa protein (JIP-23) among the newly synthesized jasmonate-induced proteins (JIPs) reached more than 25% of total leaf proteins.
