Relationship between mother tuber size and some physiological characters and yield of five potato cultivars
The relationship between seed tuber size (<20 to >200 g) and number of eyes/tuber, number of stems/plant, ratio of stems to eyes and weight of seed tuber tissue/eye was studied in potatoes Beryl, Bronka, Cisa, Mila and San. The features studied varied significantly between cultivars and increased with increasing tuber size. The average percentage of eyes producing stems ranged from 44.1% in Cisa to 82.4% in Mila and from 47.6% in the smallest tubers to 91.1% in the largest.
