Relationship between some dietary and production parameters and dry matter intake in lactating Simmental cows

, : Relationship between some dietary and production parameters and dry matter intake in lactating Simmental cows. Proceedings of the 10th national congress, Scientific Association of Animal Production, Bologna, Italy, 31 May 3 June 1993: 189-195

From calving until day 256 of lactation 87 Simmental heifers and cows were fed on ad libitum diets containing hay or silage (trial 1) or diets as a complete mixture or in separate components (trial 2). Average milk yield was 13.9 kg/day and average intake was 26.8 g/kg liveweight, increasing from week 3 to 9 (from 25.6 to 27.4 g/kg liveweight) and remained at this level for the rest of lactation; DM intake (kg/day) was more constant.
