Relationship between some dietary and production parameters and dry matter intake in lactating Simmental cows
From calving until day 256 of lactation 87 Simmental heifers and cows were fed on ad libitum diets containing hay or silage (trial 1) or diets as a complete mixture or in separate components (trial 2). Average milk yield was 13.9 kg/day and average intake was 26.8 g/kg liveweight, increasing from week 3 to 9 (from 25.6 to 27.4 g/kg liveweight) and remained at this level for the rest of lactation; DM intake (kg/day) was more constant.
