In a pot experiment in sandy loam (Typic Calciorthid), wheat WH-283 was grown after maize given 0, 20, 40, 60 or 80 p.p.m. P as single superphosphate, ammonium polyphosphate (APP) or chloride free NPK mixture (5:52:21) and 0 or 5 p.p.m. Zn. Wheat was given a basal dressing of 100 p.p.m. N as urea and 50 p.p.m. K2O as muriate of potash. P or NPK application to maize increased DM yields in the following wheat crop. Wheat DM yields were higher without residual Zn and highest after APP.
