Restricted maximum likelihood estimates of genetic parameters of first three lactation traits in Murrah buffaloes

Data on 1520 lactation records of 716 buffaloes, daughters of 60 sires, were analysed. The hsuperscript 2s for the first 3 lactations were 0.23+or-0.12, 0.20+or-0.10 and 0.16+or-0.09 respectively for milk yield, 0.08+or-0.04, 0.14+or-0.06 and 0.21+or-0.11 for lactation length, and 0.31+or-0.19, 0.28+or-0.16 and 0.24+or-0.18 for gestation length. The hsuperscript 2s for days open and dry period were 0.11-0.24 and 0.05-0.19 respectively.
