Salt tolerance of mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) at germination stage

Salt tolerance of mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) at germination stage

Annals of Agricultural Research 15(1): 90-91

Mung bean K 851, Pusa 105, PDM 54, ML 267 and PS 16 seeds were germinated in distilled water or conductivity levels of 6, 9, 12 or 15 mmhos/cm (NaCl, CaCl2 and MgSO4 in a ratio of 8:1:1 meq/litre). Seed germination decreased with salinity level. K-851 was most tolerant to salinity having 60% germination at the highest salinity compared with PS-16 which was the least tolerant with 38% germination at this salinity.
