Studies of human zinc kinetics using the stable isotope 70Zn

Studies of human zinc kinetics using the stable isotope 70Zn

Clinical Science 84(1): 113-117

The short-term (120 min) kinetics of zinc turnover were studied in control subjects and 7 patients with alcoholic liver disease after intravenous injection of 96.5% enriched 70ZnCl2 0.5 mg. The 70Zn enrichment of plasma closely obeyed two-compartment kinetics and the derived two-component decay equation was used to calculate the size and turnover of the initial two rapidly exchanging pools of body Zn.
