Studies on fodder yielding and ratooning abilities of sorghum varieties as influenced by fertilizer levels

In a field trial in the summer (irrigated) and kharif (rainfed) seasons of 1981 on clay soil at Dharwad, Karnataka, the effects of 50 kg N + 30 kg P + 20 kg K/ha or double or triple these amounts on main crop and ratoon crop fodder yields of sorghum Rio, Roma, Dale, RM 57-1, Annigeri-1 and J-set-3 were studied. Cultivar RM 57-1 gave the highest main crop dry fodder yield of 15.26 t/ha, whereas the highest ratoon crop and total dry fodder yields were obtained from Dale.
