Studies on the effect of pre-sowing tillage, post sowing irrigation and methods of weed control in cotton grown in cotton-wheat cropping system

In a field experiment on sandy loam during the kharif seasons of 1985-86 at Hisar, Haryana, cotton H 777 was sown after wheat on plots that received no tillage, minimum tillage (one disc harrowing) or conventional tillage (ploughing + harrowing). The crop was irrigated 20, 35 or 50 d after sowing (DAS) and weeded by interrow cultivation with or without 2 kg Stomp a.i./ha. Seed cotton yield increased with intensity of tillage and delaying irrigation to 50 DAS.
