Studies on water management based on plant water status in forcing tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) culture

Tomato plants often show excessive vegetative growth in greenhouse conditions, resulting in fruit malformation and delayed fruit growth. Limited water deficit can correct the balance towards normal fruit growth. A series of experiments was carried out to develop a method of water management for tomatoes in forcing culture, based on the evaluation of plant water status using the pressure chamber method.
