Study and selection of somaclones of the variety C 8751 (Saccharum spp. hybrid) under rainfed conditions

Somaclones from tissue culture did not differ from the donor C8751 in the number of stalks but the stalks were thinner and shorter. Although the subclones presented wider variation, the differences in the variability of 5 yield components between the subclones and the donor were not significant. Forty-four subclones out-yielded the donor and were selected.
