Study on village structure and village life in Mohana village in Nepal. Impact of irrigation on a society growing rainfed rice



Journal of Rural Planning Association 10(4): 22-29



Mohana village in Southern Nepal covers 70 ha and consists of 91 households. The layout of the village, the land use and the characteristics of the buildings were investigated in 1989. The layout and construction of the houses of typical farmers, landowners and landless farmworkers are described. The village is primarily self-sufficient in rice and most products are consumed within the village, except for mustard which is sold for cash.
