Swallowing disorders in a case of Lyme disease with severe neurological involvement

A 67-year-old man presented at hospital in Paris, France, with dysphagia and weight loss of 2 months duration. 4 years earlier he had developed Lyme borreliosis (caused by Borrelia burgdorferi) with severe neurological involvement. Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging showed multifocal high-intensity signals located in the periventricular white matter and the brain stem.
