The availability of fuelwood from Vermont's nonindustrial private forest lands (NIPF)

The availability of fuelwood from Vermont's nonindustrial private forest lands (NIPF)

Northern Journal of Applied Forestry 8(2): 57-59

Questionnaire survey data from 3024 non-industrial private forest land (NIPF) owners (5% of NIPF population in Vermont) were analysed for the period 1982-84. It was estimated that NIPF in the state could supply 3.3 million cords of fuelwood annually to the fuelwood market in the NE USA. However, during the energy crisis in the early 1980s commercial production was only 660 000 cords; of this 342 000 cords came from NIPF.
