The bacterial interference phenomenon in experimental Staphylococcus hyicus infection in gnotobiotic piglets

The bacterial interference phenomenon in experimental Staphylococcus hyicus infection in gnotobiotic piglets

Deutsche Tieraerztliche Wochenschrift 99(7): 306-309

Prior colonisation of the skin with avirulent S. hyicus was capable of preventing the development of moist eczema after cutaneous application of virulent S. hyicus, although a localised reaction did develop at the inoculation site in 5 of 9 challenged piglets. Staphylococcus sciuri was incapable of inhibiting S. hyicus.
