The beet cyst nematode (Heterodera schachtii Schmidt): its life cycle and some control measures

A review of the life cycle of H. schachtii revealed that the optimal temp. for J2 emergence is 25 degrees C and that larvae can survive in cysts for up to 10 years. Emergence is triggered by the presence of root exudates from host plants, chiefly Chenopodiaceae and Cruciferae.
