The biological activity of bound residues of 14C-chlorpyrifos-methyl and 14C-malathion on treated wheat in a stored product insect

The biological activity of bound residues of 14C-chlorpyrifos-methyl and 14C-malathion on treated wheat in a stored product insect

Journal of Environmental Science and Health Part B, Pesticides, Food Contaminants, and Agricultural Wastes 27(4): 419-426

In a laboratory study, there was no effect on Tribolium castaneum fed wheat containing nonextractable residues of malathion; however, there was a significant reduction in the number of adults reaching maturity after being fed chlorpyrifos-methyl treated extracted wheat. It is concluded that the latter effect could be associated with the trichloropyridinol metabolite of chlorpyrifos-methyl which has been shown to comprise 60% of the nonextractable residue.
