The effect of film covering date on fruit quality and tree growth in peaches grown in unheated plastic houses

In trials in 1989-90, peach cultivars Baekmijosaeng, Sunagowase and Kurakatawase were grown in plastic greenhouses with water-filled heat storage bags at 90 litres/msuperscript 2. The greenhouse frames were covered with film in either Feb. or Mar., or not at all. When greenhouses were covered with film on 15 Feb., ripening of Baekmijosaeng was 5 days earlier than with covering on 15 Mar. and similar results were obtained with Sunagowase and Kurakatawase.
