The drying rate of cut diploid and tetraploid perennial ryegrass (L. perenne) and diploid hybrid ryegrass L. perenne X L. multiflorum and associated meteorological characteristics, were studied in the field during 1988-90. Meteorological elements measured were: air temperature (at 0.1 m and 1.5 m height), dew point temperature (at 1.5 m height), temperature within the grass sward, grass surface temperature, global radiation and wind speed (at 2 m height).
