In field trials in 1989-90 in Yugoslavia, Medicago sativa OS-88 was sown for seed production on 14 or 26 April 1989 in rows 20, 40, 60 or 80 cm apart and given 0-90 kg N/ha. It was concluded that high precipitation was negatively correlated with germination rate of the produced seed whereas earlier sowing increased germination rate. At low plant densities the seed produced had a higher germination rate.
