The use of calcium rich foods as related to dietary advice in women on fat reduced diets

, : The use of calcium rich foods as related to dietary advice in women on fat reduced diets. Proceedings of the Nutrition Society of New Zealand 18: 101-105

The study investigated the calcium intake of 50 women, 40 to 65 years old, on low-fat diets, and the effect of giving standard information about the importance of Ca intake and ways to increase this. Ca intake was assessed before and 3 months after the specific dietary advice. The mean daily Ca intake was initially 696 mg, a value below that recommended for postmenopausal women. The mean percentage energy from fat and and saturated fat was 28.5 and 9.6, respectively.
