The use of cassava for feeding rabbits

, : The use of cassava for feeding rabbits. Cassava as livestock feed in Africa: proceedings of the IITA/ILCA/University of Ibadan workshop on the potential utilization of cassava as livestock feed in Africa, 14-18 November 1988, Ibadan, Nigeria: 58-71

Utilization of cassava by rabbits is reviewed. Rabbits can be fed on 30% cassava root meal without adverse effects on growth or organ size. Higher levels of dietary cassava should be used with care to avoid the effects of antinutritional factors. Supplementation with 0.2% methionine or 2% palm oil is desirable in diets containing up to 4% cassava root meal. Reproduction is not impaired by use of cassava root meal provided other essential nutrients are supplied.
