, : The use of shape memory metal in tunnel cultivation - tunnel cultivation of lettuce. Agriculture and Horticulture 67(1): 31-36

Lettuce was grown in plastic tunnels with shape memory alloy springs used to raise the edges of the tunnel and provide ventilation. In 3 plots, the highest average temperatures for Jan. and Feb., measured at a height of 20 cm, were 26.2, 23.0 and 22.8 degrees C. With decreasing maximum temperatures, the number of outer leaves of lettuce decreased and the number of heart leaves increased.
