The use of underground water to lower the solution temperature for hydroponics during the hot summer season

, : The use of underground water to lower the solution temperature for hydroponics during the hot summer season. Research Reports of the Rural Development Administration, Horticulture 32(3): 12-15

In cucumber Gyousarichongjang grown in Hoagland and Arnon solution during the period 20 Mar.-20 Sep. 1989, the temperature of the nutrient solution was decreased by underground water flowing at 2.5 litres/minute from 10.00 to 18.00 h through polyethylene tubes 25 mm in diameter, with walls 0.1 or 1 mm thick, placed in the root bed or in the solution reservoir, or with free flowing water beneath the root bed.
