The vectorial role of Simulium sanctipauli in savanna areas of southern Mali and eastern Guinea

, : The vectorial role of Simulium sanctipauli in savanna areas of southern Mali and eastern Guinea. Zeitschrift fuer Angewandte Zoologie, 782: 167-177

Simulium sanctipauli, a forest species of the S. damnosum complex, is normally confined to southern Cote d'Ivoire where onchocerciasis is rarely blinding. However, when experimentally infected with Onchocerca volvulus, it has been shown to be a good vector of the severe blinding savanna strains of this disease.
