The water balance of plants in the ground vegetation of a limestone beech forest

Phytocoenologia 23: 35-50
The water balance of plants in the ground vegetation of a limestone beech forest
In the understorey of a beech forest on limestone in Germany, transpiration of Mercurialis perennis, a summer-green herb, was monitored continuously in 1982, and in 1983 the transpiration (Tr) was monitored of 2 spring geophytes, Allium ursinum and Arum maculatum, one winter-green herb, Asarum europaeum, one summer-green herb, M. perennis, and 2 grasses, Hordelymus europaeus and Melica uniflora during their respective growth periods.
