In feeding trials and large-scale farm experiments, feeding young male Black Pied calves on a mixture of trace elements, copper, zinc, cobalt and manganese, according to the recommended standard, resulted in increased growth and development and decreased feed:gain ratios. The added trace element mixture also increased digestibility of DM, crude protein, nitrogen-free extract and crude fibre, and favourably influenced the activities of digestive enzymes.
