Transfer of the genes for resistance to wheat leaf rust Lr9, Lr19 and Lr24 to high-yielding winter varieties of wheat

By means of backcrossing, the Puccinia recondita resistance gene Lr9 was transferred to the variety Mara, Lr19 to Viginta and Zdar and Lr24 to Regina. The sources of the resistance genes were the best spring wheat lines from CIMMYT among those field tested in 1985.
