Transition of apple and pear orchards to a pheromone-based pest management system

Transition of apple and pear orchards to a pheromone-based pest management system

Washington State Horticultural Association Proceedings of the 88th Annual Meeting, Yakima, Washington, USA, 7-9th December 1992: 169-175

With special reference to investigations in apple and pear orchards in Washington State in 1991-92, the prospects for pest control if mating disruption using sex pheromones is adopted against the codling moth instead of broad-spectrum insecticides are discussed. Conventional insecticides have been used as the principal tactic of pest control programmes there for more than 30 years.
